New Clothes

Yesterday I finally got to do some major shopping for once.I got a faux leather jacket from H&M, a skarf from there too, and a plain black t shirt from Gap that was on sale for $6.99 so I would had to have been stupid to not buy it.I will post pics of them when I can.

More photos of mine ,I hope you like them.

Evening

Since I really have nothing much to post about aside from buying the new Elle(I had to cave ,it was the first september issue I saw), I decided to make this post solely to show some of my photography work, just a few things I've done recently.Let me know what you think. I'll post more later.

Giving Up On Thrift

It's too much of a risk.

The clothing racks at my local goodwills and salvation army are stocked with endless amounts of atrocious polo t shirts that can be found on the sale rack at Jc Penny because absolutely no one in their right mind would buy one. They are hideous, and truly give mens clothing a bad name, as does pretty much any other article of mens clothing in these places.I'm about to start getting large clothes from the womens sections and sewing them into thigns that will fit me.

I did make a sort of regretful purchase at one of these places.I saw some ankle zip boots on the shoe rack and they were EXACTLY the type of shoe that I had wanted ,and they were $2 compared to the $50 tage on the new pair.I got them and trierd to shove them onto my feet but they were clearly too small.I kept forcing and forcing like the step sisters in Cinderella, hoping that the shoe would somehow miraculously fit.I got it on ,but it hurt like hell and made it extremely awkward to walk right.Plus the zipper almost broke as I was trying to zip it up.

But, even all of this didn't stop me from buying them.I just felt like I needed them ,that it would save the money of buying a new pair. After I looked back on them I couldn't believe myself. The shoes were gross and didn't have any insoles, it looked like there were squashed bugs on the inside of them.

So ,lesson learned.I want all new clothes from now on, until I can find a decent thing clothing wise in a resale shop.It is very hard surprisingly.

Ah ,sleep, I need you.

Thursday Thursday

I think I've just found my new favorite site. theselby.com
Todd Selby is a photographer who goes around and simply takes photographs of people in their natural areas, whether it be their homes ,works, etc.

It's a simple idea, but I think the result is nice. One of my favorite parts of magazines is where they show people and their homes and things like that, it's so neat to be able to see into someone's life like that. And who isn't somewhat of a voyeur these days?

It's a refreshing thing to look at, it is a very strange feeling knowing that other people are living lives all around you and you don't even know it.
The new Vogue Italia has been released, a very fitting theme honoring YSL.This is one of the most striking shots from the main edit ,shot of course by Steven Meisel. As you can tell it takes place in a cemetary, and it is entirely in black and white.I really like it.

I think I'm falling in love with Tom Binns. His designs are so stunning, it's very inspiring to see someone take a piece of beach glass or worn old pearls and turn them into something special and avante garde. It makes me want to go to a flea market ,buy a box of costume jewelry ,and start making works of art.

Tommorow means going to the Stan Hywet Gardens in the early day to take more photos, then to first friday in downtown canton to do more portraits of people.I've basically found out that portraiture is my thing photography wise.I love it.I just need a better camera.
have a lovely day

Sunday

Well, no real luck with my sewing skills.I tried loading the machine again yesterday but I can never read the instructions right, the thread always ends up getting stuck.Which sucked ,because after watching the entire second season of project runway, you are going to want to try and make somthing.

I'm just going to stick to what I do best, taking pictures.I will figure out how to load that machine if it kills me, I want to be able to make things, I might just have to resort to making my own clothing if I get a job, having to balance school and a job leaves you little time to shop, and even less money when you have a car to pay for.

But yeah ,the instructions in the sewing machine manual are confusing, it's a Style Elements mini sewing machine for anyone who may have that same model and could give me some assistance.I may just try and learn how to use my mom's larger Bernina machine, it looks simpler to use and would probably be powerful enough to actually make clothes.

Tuesday I'm heading to the Cleveland Institute of Art to see the Maggie Taylor exhibit, then I think just walking around the city.Good therapy ,all this job stress and life stress has been getting old.

I kind of want this t shirt

Too bad it's at Uraban Outfitters and it's $32, incredibly expensive for me as far as a t shirt is considered. Now if it goes on sale that's another thing altogether.I rarely find t shirts that I like but I like the face and the fact that there's a cigarette on it.Not that I smoke but I think cigs look really cool when other people are smoking them.Plus they look super in photos. And I like that the girls earring is a safety pin, enough punk for me without overdoing it.I am not and never will be punk. But this would look ridiculously good with black skinnies and a blazer(something I feel like I should buy, it's such a basic now a days).

I need to do some thrift shopping soon, one of my favorite places to do so closed permenantly so now all I can rely on is goodwill and salvation army.Which basically means I will have to sift through racks and racks of clothes that are basically just ugly polo shiorts from JC Penny that no one wanted, but that's where the fun is.Looking through the crap to get what you really want.If I could find a blondie t shirt with Debbie Harry's face on it I would buy it in a second.

Something like this...

But on a t shirt.Yep, I would die.And it would be cheap, and I would be recycling. All good things.

My hair is annoying me.

Au Revoir

Thursday is love

I got a sewing machine!

I really have no major plans for it, I've kind of always wanted one of my own to play around with. It's a tiny one but I don't plan to do any huge things with it.Maybe try and make a hat? What is good hat material, something soft and easily stretchable but won't stretch out?Preferably a thin material.

Today I'm watching my baby cousins a bit while their mother is there ,then tomorrow watching them again as their parents go out to dinner and see the new batman movie.I'm getting paid so that is also good, but I do love the children so it's not like I wouldn't do it otherwise.

I need to call kohls again today, maybe I can somehow wedge myself into a position? One can only hope.

I started reading White Oleander again.I never get tired of that.

have a good day.
